How are you all today on the Couture Creations blog?

I wanted to create a layout to celebrate Australia and knew as soon as I saw these photos I have, that this was how I was going to do it..

Sweeping Plains 12 x 12 Collection Set - CO727966

I used assorted papers from the collection and distressed the edge with a pair of scissors then inked around it and finally sewed around it to give some interest to the page,  I then cut a circle as shown and sewed this on the paper at the same time. I then matted it on a piece of brown cardstock. 

I mattered my photos and placed a piece of ephemera to separate the two photos. 

I adhered pieces of the 

Sweeping Plains Diecut Ephemera Set - CO727980

and Sweeping Plains Diecut Sentiment Set - CO727981

to the page some using the Adhesive 3D Foam Tape - CO723899

I stamped some images on the paper and die cut the gorgeous leaves and Australia map 

(so happy to see Tasmania on it) ..

I added some die cut leaves under the photos after shaping them with my fingers. I love to use journalling on my pages and thought this a nice way to follow the circle..

Have to love the kookaburra sitting on the G'Day don't you from the  sweeping Plains Diecut Ephemera Set - CO727980

I placed Eucalyptus leaves from the Sweeping Plains Diecut Ephemera Set - CO727980 around the page using the foam tape.

AUSTRALIA DAY - 2020

HI all, 

Happy Australia Day for 2020.

This year we are having a BBQ with the family and a get together to just catch up.  We all get so busy in our own lives that it's important to catch up when ever you can and for us Australia Day is important.. My grandkids are important to me so again I took some photos to show you how they enjoy the day.. 

These two photos of the boys are a treasure for me as its the first time in seven years they have been here for Australian Day.. The photos are their idea and of course I am going to go with it lol..

(yes it is that dry here)..

Blake (older one) and Harley wanted to stand in front of the bbq because of the sign behind him.. '

Steve's Roadkill Cafe'

My hubby is called Stephen so this sign was appropriate we all thought, and for awhile there we actually thought he was cooking roadkill lol..

Santa brought the girls bikes for Christmas, and this is their way of showing us how they use their flags (btw - the two youngest EmmieRose and Charlie are maniacs and that one in the yellow jumper Charlie is crazily scary ) lol 

Astaria, the oldest wanted to hold the bigger flag because she said she is big and she loves Australia.. How sweet is that.. 

Three interesting facts for you regarding Australia..

1. 90% of people live on the coast.

2. Tasmania (where I live) has the cleanest air in the world..

3. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest eco-system in the world..

Three Simple Cards - - I Think She Was An Aussie - AVSC

Hi all, 

I can not help myself, I like the Australia paper from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft so much I had to create some Australian cards from it.. I created these quite simply as I wanted
the papers to be the highlight... 

Card 1...

I cut a panel from one of the cut aparts and adhered it to a card front.. I placed a kangaroo from the KaiserCraft Collectables -Under the Gum Leaves with 3D foam tape on the front and stamped the greeting.  I cut the stamped greeting and adhere it with 3D foam tape. I went over the greeting and on all the flowers including the kangaroo with glossy accents to give some interest to the card..   



Card 2...

I love this cut-apart piece of paper and wanted the Galah's to be the main focus..
I simply added 3D Foam tape to the leaves and shaped them a little to give some 'life' .. I added a quote, two butterflies (EK Success) , some dimensional magic and it is done..  

Lots of shine to make the Galah's stand out.. This is so pretty in real life..

Card 3...

Again I wanted the paper to be the main focus so I fussy cut the Galah from the Ephemera Set 

and adhered with 3D foam tape on a die cut Tree Branch (Tim Holtz).. I cut the Sunburnt Country heading of the Ephemera package set, again using 3D foam tape to adhere.  I used Black Nuvo Drops   for the eye and beak and some glitter on the feathers.

Canvas - I Think She Was an Aussie - AVSC

Hi all,

How are we all doing today. 

I wanted to use this wonderful stencil I received in this month kit from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft and thought how perfect would it be on a canvas.. 

The canvas is a 10.2cm x 10.2cm and is already primed.. I used Distress stains by placing a little on the glass mat and using water and a paint brush, painted it over the canvas.

Let it dry before thoroughly. 

I mixed some Modelling Paste  with Inka gold and spread over the the stencil on the canvas.

Looks pretty eh!

I die cut some butterflies from the Sizzix Tim Holtz Stamp Set - Entomology  and coloured them in.

 I only adhered them on the body to give the wings some lift. I thought it looked too plain, so drew around some of the flowers in a black pen to make them stand out..

A piece of leaf ribbon on the side, some pearls  and a fussy cut G'Day Mate from the wonderful papers and the canvas is finished.. 

You can see the shine with glossy accents on the heading which has 3D foam tape to give it some dimension.

ATCoin - I Think She Was An Aussie - AVSC

Hi all,

How arr ya doin this fine flipin mornin?

Don't ya luv the Aussie slang !! 

It's all about Australia this month and what fun are ya all avin hehe..

I love creating Artist Trading Coins (ATC) or Artist Trading Cards (ATC)

and thought why not do one for AVSC. 

The ATC cards are measured at 2 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches and the ATC coins are 2 1/2 inches circle.

I punched out 3 grey coins and adhered them together to give them thickness. 

On a piece of white cardstock I blended assorted  Distress ink. I stamped the large scrip on top with black archival ink and punched the 2 1/2 inch circle out.. 

Adhere them on top of the grey circles and ink around the edges with brown Clearly Kelly ink..

I punched out two 1 1/4 inch circle from the wonderful papers in this month kit and adhered them as shown. Again ink around the edges.  

I love this Leaf Ribbon  and cut a little out and placed on the coin as you see.

Using 3D foam adhesive tape I adhered the blowfly and beetle to the coin as shown. I fussy cut a flower from a border scrap strip and placed that on the bottom of the coin because it looked bare and still it didn't look right. SO I stamped a bee on top of that and coloured the wings in yellow with a little glitter on top of them..   

I cut the tiny heading from the paper in the kit and adhered it on top of the coin. 

I placed  glossy accents over the top of the blow fly and beetle as well as the Sunburnt Country heading to give it some dimension..

Note: I stamped heaps of insects from the Sizzix Tim Holtz Stamp Set - Entomology 

I coloured them all in and cut them out with the matching dies.

Storage Box - - I Think She Was An Aussie - AVSC

Hi all, 

How wonderful are the papers from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft this month.. 

AND can you believe it is Christmas time next month and I haven't even started my Christmas decorations yet EEK!!

Anyway let me get back to this month and the fun I am having..

I have two storage boxes I want to use for some of my special markers and I thought this would be the perfect time to cover them as I do love the papers from this month kit.

First off, I stamped a heap of  images from  Sizzix Tim Holtz Stamp Set - Entomology   and coloured them in using markers.

I measured the top of  the storage box and cut a piece of white paper to size. I then stamped and coloured the images in..

Using strong glue I adhered it to the top of the box leaving a border..

 I made a template for the drawer front and cut four out from one of the papers as shown. 

After inking around the edges I adhered them to the drawers. I also placed glossy accents on the flowers and nuts on the paper to give them some interest..

Isn't this paper nice, I placed this on the side I wasn't going to embellish as it is going to be against the other box.

This is the piece of paper that I embellished as this is the side that is on display.. 

 

I fussy cut the birds and placed glossy accents on it to give them some shine. I used 3D foam tape to make them stand out.  Adhering lots of insects on the busy page gave it a little more interest.. 

I coloured the wooden animals with Distress ink and adhered them to the front of the drawers..

The finished box with my markers in them..

How brilliant does this look, now to do the other one..

Fruit Box - - I Think She Was An Aussie - AVSC

Hi all,
Wow, here we are in November and my birthday month which by the way I am going backwards and so not going forward, and in one month it is Christmas time..  I have a project I made and I do hope you will get the same sense of fun out of it that I did.

I adore these insects from the stamp and die set - Entomology  and knew straight away I was going to use them with these little fruits in a box I had..  C'mon these are fair dinkum cute..

Who wouldn't want to eat all these fruits.. Even the butterflies and moths want some action, though with this many bugs I would be running screaming lol.

I do like the Protea's and really like them behind the box. I had heaps of Protea plants and my hubby watered his lawn with some grass food which killed all my Protea's, I cried when I seen them all die... EEK !! more bugs are coming and so I am outta here..

Australia Day 2019

Hi all, 

Australia Day is here YAH!!

My goodness another year and again we celebrate what it means to be an Australian..

To me it means Family, Caring, Acceptance and lately Heat lol...

I love Australia..

My granddaughter Charlie who loves these glasses and blowing whistles lol

Astaria who like Charlie thinks nothing of wearing gumboots in 38 degrees heat lol..

This is what my granddaughter Aimee and her friends are doing.. 

Have you all noticed my grass the kids are standing on?? That my friends is my front lawn; yes I repeat my front lawn. We are on tank water in the bush and since it has been so hot it has killed most of my grass and flowers though it doesn't stop the older ones from sitting on the veranda having a beverage or two lol..

At my daughters pool which is happening a lot lately, and little Emmie is not sure if she likes it or not.. Charlie loves her pool floatie lol.

And when not at the pool then at the beach. I love this photo even if Astaria's half butt is showing lol

(she is just like her dad).. Charlie were is your hat??

And just because, here are a couple of fun facts.. 

1. Pub With No Beer, by Slim Dusty was the first Australian international number one. It was also the first single to go Gold... (Yah go Country Music)

2. Men At Work, 1983 were the first Australian group to win a Grammy award. They had a number one single and a number one album in America at the same time..

3. The first university was opened in Australia in Sydney in 1850. It wasn't until 1881 that the university of Adelaide was the first university to allow women to study..
