Gingerbread House - AVSC

 Hi all,

This month in December we have a theme going called:

SANTA v's JESUS

I brought the Village Dwelling die by Tim Holtz -Sizzix  ages ago from Aunty Vera and thought the paper is all about Gingerbread so why not make a gingerbread house..

I Love love love the stencil I have in my kit and thought I would use it for the house and then paint over it or add cut out papers around it .. I used Aleen's Glitter Snow  over the stencil to give it a little glow. 

How brilliant did this turn out!!

I put it together and thought it needed something else. I inked around all the edges and place a little strip of red on the door step.

It still felt very flimsy so I cut out a frame from a cut apart and glued the frame on a painted 

 canvas I did earlier.

I added adhesive to the little stand and glued it to the canvas. I also glued the tree on the little stand and used a little fluff for the smoke.

I have to be honest I loved the house so much I didn't do any fussy cutting or place stickers anywhere.

I did add this sticker on the back only because it looked too bare.

I glued little balls in the tree for decorations and placed yellow cello paper on the windows.

Though I glued the base and tree down I wanted to place a battery candle in it so I left it as is..

How darn cute is this house!!

Die Piece Card - AVSC

Hi all, 

My first project for December 2020 with Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft.

Santa v's Jesus .

I love this Funky Festival die set from Tim Holtz and decided I was going to make a card just using the dies only with distress inks.. 

 

I die cut lots of pieces from watercolour paper and adhered it on a panel of the same paper.. 

Using a blender brush I chose five colours of Distress Inks and blended them on the panel. 

I then used a Aqua Water Colour pen to wash the colours together in a nice blend.

I die cut extra flowers and leaves and made a poinsettia from it for the front of the card using the same technique of watercolours..

I stamped Merry Christmas on the same paper and and adhered it to the front using 3D foam tape..

I then matted this to a red cardstock with a piece of cardboard to give it a little depth and then on to a white card base.. Love how this all came together..

Three Card Swap - AVSC - March

Hi all,

Join us over at Aunty Vera's Scrap and Craft  AVSC for our March Challenge which is Create Three Cards with different techniques with the themes: Friendship, Birthday and Open.. These are mine for the challenge..

Card 1.  Friendship - I love the medium of Encaustic Art which is a wax.. I just love that there are never the two the same and each piece is unique.. I added a mat behind the art piece to highlight it, I added three black pearls and a Tim Holtz Gold sticker 'Quotations'.

Card 2.  Birthday.. I die cut the small Tattered Floral dies by Tim Holtz several times and adhered it to the watercolour card mat.  Using the blending tools I blended Fossilized Amber, Crushed Olive, Mermaid Lagoon, Dusty Concord, Pickled Raspberry Distress Inks over the front of the card and blended it together with a little water on a brush.. I then splashed some white paint over and let it dry..  

Using a black pen I doodles around some of the flowers and leaves and drew tiny circles in some of the flower centres.. Stamping the bird and crown from Shabby French by Tim Holtz on to watercolour paper using the same inks as the background. I then fussy cut both items and added gold pearls to the crown.. The quote is from the Crazy Talk Collection - Tim Holtz and embossed with Hero Arts Satin Pearl embossing powder on black cardstock..  

I created another card for a video tutorial and run into so many problems, all I could do was laugh out loud.. This is that card, same as above but more vibrant in colours.. I used a chalk marker to make little dots around the quote.. 

Card 3 Open.. I love this technique of using Distress Oxide Inks on photo paper, Again it is a medium that is unique in every piece.. I stamped the quote from 'How About Never' from Dyan Reaveley - Ranger; rearranged the quotes, placed the on 3D foam tape and laced them on the front after inking around the edge in black.. I then added three silver pearls to finish the card.. 

I Inked around the quote in black after embossing it in black embossing powder. A little blue and pink on the front of the words brings it all together..

ATCoin Swap November 2019 - Craft Room Down Under

Hi all, 

What a wonderful day today is as I look out of my window and see the sunshine.. It does make you feel so much better after a long winter..

I joined in a swap or two swaps I should say for November with a facebook group called

  Craft Room Down Under  

For both of these swaps I need to create a ATCoin..

My first ATCoin is a Frame Theme.

I cut out three Ornate Doilies and adhered them together for thickness.

Using a circle die cut out the centre as shown. 

(yep, my cutting plates are well used lol)

Die cut or punch  three 2 1/2 inch circles and adhere together.. Cut one circle from patterned paper and adhere on top.

Patterned paper is from Anko - Timeless Mini Paper Stack.

Adhere the doily on top as shown..

I die cut all the flowers twice from the Sizzix Eileen Hull Journaling Cards and Flowers die and inked around the edges with Distress Ink - Victorian Velvet..

Using a foam mat (in my case an old computer mouse mat), shape the flowers.

The flowers adhered together with liquid glue. I placed a pink pearl in the centre.. 

I added a ribbon on the back so you can hang it somewhere, then added another circle on the back to cover the adhesive on the ribbon.  Little tiny pearls on the frame finishes it off lovely..  I was going to add a word but after trying it everywhere I found I didn't like it..

Different but I like it..

I received my ATCoin Frame from my swap partner Helen Cooke and it is lovely..

Fruit Box - - I Think She Was An Aussie - AVSC

Hi all,
Wow, here we are in November and my birthday month which by the way I am going backwards and so not going forward, and in one month it is Christmas time..  I have a project I made and I do hope you will get the same sense of fun out of it that I did.

I adore these insects from the stamp and die set - Entomology  and knew straight away I was going to use them with these little fruits in a box I had..  C'mon these are fair dinkum cute..

Who wouldn't want to eat all these fruits.. Even the butterflies and moths want some action, though with this many bugs I would be running screaming lol.

I do like the Protea's and really like them behind the box. I had heaps of Protea plants and my hubby watered his lawn with some grass food which killed all my Protea's, I cried when I seen them all die... EEK !! more bugs are coming and so I am outta here..

Harry;s Bookshelf Part 2 - Dance Like a HippoGriff - Harry Potter - AVSC

Hi all,

Here are some little items I created to go on Harry's Bookshelf..
Beware this is a heavy photo post though it is interesting..

First one was a broom before the Nimbus 2000.. I made this by using a twig from out side and some spear grass.. I love how it turned out and think it is cute as.. (btw spear grass is called that for a reason lol).

I made mini wands.. 

I started out with chopsticks that I cut into smaller pieces..

 I placed dobs of hot glue over the sticks and let dry..

I cut them down to size and painted them black with acrylic ink.

I then rubbed over the raised areas with Inka Gold when dry..

Cute as..

I had some little glass bottles in my stash so thought what is magic without glass bottles to hold all the weird stuff.. I love this washie tape here that I wrapped around the bottle..

Some String, metal embellishments, eyes and interesting stuff makes these bottle interesting.. 

Using a little cork, I scooped the inside out and placed some black ink into it with a quill pen made from a feather with a leather binding.. It does actually work..

I had some smoosh ink from my stash that is yonks old and gone funny but it was perfect for this large bead as it created a marbled effect. I sat it on a sprocket to give some stability.. I wonder what my future holds in this glass ball? mmm looks a bit cloudy to me..

What is a cupboard with out the scrolls and all the wonderful spells cast on them..

I tore little bits of coffee stained paper in to squares and rolled them up.. I tied them with a little string and inked the edges.. 

I made these little books.

I cut pieces of homemade paper at 7 inches x 1 1/4 inches and scored every 1 inch.

I inked all the folds and then folded in a concertina style.

I adhered every second page together to give this star shape.

I made the cover a little bit bigger and glues the pages onto the cover.. I found these little book covers on pinterest ages ago so printed them out to fit the book..

I tied some of the books with string and others left as is.. I did ink all the edges to give an aged look.

I had this metal key in my stash and had brought these wings from Aunty Vera months ago. Here 

How perfect were these two together. I wonder if this was the key that opened THE door???

Ok, now this is something I created just because I thought it could be interesting

What is it used for? well could be a time machine!!

I inked a metal snowflake and jump rings with VersaMark ink. (Yes I know, a dirty ink pad)

Using this gorgeous Ranger Mixed Media Powder - Hammered Here 

I heat embossed the items.. This was totally an experiment but I am happy to report it was brilliant..

I found I had to totally coat the metal embellishments to make it work.. 

And VOILA. How utterly gorgeous are these...

I adore how this clock turned out.. I lost some fine details but that was ok with me.. I placed a plain metal cog on it to place the hands for contrast.

My dangler thingy uses the metal snowflake, the embossed rings, beads, wire and metal findings as well a a couple of buttons to help it all stand..

I really like it.

I had an old frame in my stash so I cut a photo out of Dobby and placed it in the frame which I had stained with alcohol inks. The frame of Professor Dumbledore I got when they had the pins in the local newspaper..

I made this plaque from clay and a mold.. I painted it with black acrylic paint and rubbed over it with Inka Gold Here  once dry..A red bling and gold nuvo drops here to finish off the crown and its done..

I found these book spines on the net, printed them off and cut them out individually. I then adhered them on a piece of cardboard that I folded behind it to give a double thickness. I then adhered it on the 'wall' so they appeared stacked.. As I was going to place things in front of them I didn't worry that they looked like they were 'floating'    

I love this film strip and thought why not recycle. I used the packaging the Vignette Box here 

came in behind the frame - perfect..
